happy? sad? a little of both.

a special thanks to everyone that showed up, both family, friends, and total strangers. it was great to see and meet everyone. you all were bad ass.
now a small complaint.
to those of you that i invited and didn't show, tisk, tisk. i now know who my true friends are. the only excuse i will accept is that on your way to the show you saw a car veer off the road. you're torn between the opening and saving a life. you act quickly and jump out of your car. you race to the overturned car and find a mother and her two kids. they're trapped. a small trickle of gas it making it's way to a small piece of burning wreckage. the seat belts are stuck so you bite through them and pull everyone to safety just seconds before the car erupts in a hollywood-esque fire ball. you're a hero. the city is naming a street after you and presents you with the key to the city. i'm proud to call you my friend.
or you were on a blind date.
but, seeing as how i didn't see anyone's photo on the cover of the paper or hear of the above mentioned spectacular rescue, i assume you had something equally as important happen that detained you. please, feel free to tell me what kept you from the show.

Well, seeing how you already named your first born after me, I couldn't imagine you'd name your next one Ried too.
Actually, I really regretted not coming. I planned on it, but my kids' needs got in the way. And that's not a euphemism. Love you. Mean it. Ried
I was not in attendance because I prefer shows with Keith's work only.
Honestly, it was because I was too drunk to drive. I would have been the car someone saw veer off the road and had to make a decision on whether to save a life or get to your show.
But when I fetched my car on Saturday morning, I felt more sad than happy. 1) Because I let my friends down. 2) Because I was very, very hungover.
I must now deal with being demoted to a Tier friend.
Sorry we missed you show. The cable guy was here, doing cable things. Really.
I live 7 hours away in Winston-Salem, NC. Now you know that I have an almost obsessive love for you (well, you might not have known that until now) and I would have been there with a smile on and a glass of wine in hand. However, I'd have to make you put out at the end of the night or something. And you don't want that. You might want to revise your email to give me a special pardon. Otherwise, I'll be there in October...sugar dumplin'. ;-)
sad, because i know that i invited a lot more people that didn't show than this. we should rename it, "really, really effin' sad!"
at least these poor souls had the decency to publicly reveal why they were bad friends.
for shame to the rest of you.

I was there, Chris. Sure I called your work "douchy" but who hasn't? And more importantly, I said it while at the show.
I hope you three continue to collab. Your shared talents continuously amaze me. Continue to create.
